Meet Audubon Rockies Habitat Hero Program Coordinator: Jamie Weiss

Jamie Weiss is the Habitat Hero Coordinator for Audubon Rockies, a regional office of The National Audubon Society, an organization that has championed the protection of birds and their habitat for over a century.  She combines her science and educational background to manage the Habitat Hero program, which focuses on engaging community members and businesses in actively restoring natural habitat for birds, butterflies, pollinators and other wildlife large and small.

She serves on three committees to further help with the mission of engaging individuals to make a positive impact in our communities by increasing natural areas, providing homes and food for wildlife, and growing small refuges that can connect larger green spaces together.  These committees are the Colorado Pollinator Network, Climate Action Plan (Land & Water Use team) and Nature in the City for City of Fort Collins.

Along with earning a B.S. in Marine Biology and Chemistry from University of North Carolina at Wilmington, she is also a Certified Interpretive Guide as appointed by the National Association of Interpretation.  Jamie previously worked with Colorado Parks & Wildlife at Boyd Lake State Park and the Georgia Aquarium as an Educational Interpreter, providing families and individuals of all ages an awareness of conservation.

When not working, she can be found tending to her own garden or leading an active lifestyle.  She enjoys hiking, especially "14ers", backpacking, snowboarding, horseback riding, as well as long-distance running; all in  company with her deaf Border Collie, Fievel.
