Want to participate in Wyoming BioBlitz 2022 but can’t make it in-person? Did you attend the event at Guernsey State Park and can’t get enough? Then Virtual Wyoming BioBlitz 2022 is for you!

From July 15 through 18, you can submit observations of wild organisms from anywhere in Wyoming using iNaturalist. In addition to backyards, city parks, our public lands, and national parks, this year Wyoming State Parks and Historic Sites will have staff on-site to help answer questions at Bear River State Park, Boysen State Park, Buffalo Bill State Park, Edness K. Wilkins State Park, Keyhole State Park, Sinks Canyon State Park, and Wyoming Territorial Prison Historic Site. Entry fees remain in effect where applicable.

If you’re reading this, you probably already know how fun and exciting it is to notice new or uncommon species around you. Wyoming BioBlitz feeds that sense of curiosity and discovery by encouraging people to observe everything around them, from the moose to the millipedes. By dedicating some time to looking for new species, you’re also likely to learn about wildlife you didn’t even know about.

Wyoming BioBlitz is also a great opportunity for families to spend time together doing something out of the ordinary. No level of expertise is needed, which means family members of all ages can enjoy a weekend of exploring nature and the biodiversity in it.

Finally, participating in Wyoming BioBlitz contributes scientific data that are useful to scientists and conservationists working to study and protect Wyoming’s wonderful plants and wildlife.

Co-hosted by Audubon Rockies, UW Biodiversity Institute,  Wyoming State Parks, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, Wyoming Natural Diversity Database, and Wyoming State Forestry.
