New Habitat Hero Garden at Lesher Middle School

Native plants and bee hotels are just some features

This month we certified Lesher Middle School in Fort Collins, Colorado, as a Habitat Hero! Lesher Middle School is part of Poudre School District, one of the largest and fastest growing in Colorado and has the potential for significant future impact with more projects and more student involvement.

This 1,200 square foot bird-friendly garden is full of sunflowers, hyssops, goldenrods, and other native species planted will provide food, and shelter for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife. The garden also has added educational value with stone steps to encourage exploration, wooden bee hotels and boulder seating for outdoor classes. In the future, 754 students will help maintain this garden and use Audubon Rockies educational materials, like our traveling trunks to conduct science projects that align with Common Core State Standards.

Thanks to our wonderful partners,  City of Fort Collins, Poudre School District, and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise!
