Participate in community science by uploading your owl observations for the month of October! As a community scientist, you can help researchers and conservation groups understand the movements of owls across the Rocky Mountain region during fall migration! Simply create an iNaturalist account (or login) and submit an owl observation between October 1st and October 31st in Colorado, Utah, or Wyoming!

iNaturalist is an online social network with a free app and website that provide a place to record and organize nature observations, meet other nature enthusiasts, and learn about the natural world. You can use it to record your observations, get help with identifications, and view other people’s observations.

To participate, just follow these steps:

  1. Register for Owl-tober.
  2. Create a free iNaturalist account.
  3. Download the iNaturalist app for iPhones or Android.
  4. Review iNaturalist’s instructions and practice using the app (see below).
  5. Between October 1st and October 31st, submit your owl observations on the iNaturalist app on your phone or the iNaturalist website on your computer.

You can click here during Owl-tober to see other participants’ owl observations
