Your Vote Matters

Voting and engaging in elections is one of the most important things you can do for birds and the lands they depend on. The people and policies we vote for today will impact birds and their habitats for decades to come. And while birds can’t vote, you can.

Sometimes it may feel like your vote doesn’t matter. It’s easy to lose sight of its impact, but the fact is, your vote counts, for years after an election. And, voting isn’t the only way you can make a difference! No matter where you live, you have an important role to play in protecting the birds and lands you care about and leaving a legacy for future generations. How will you step up? Here are some ideas:

Voting is one of the easiest and most important ways you can contribute. Even if the candidate or ballot measure that you vote for doesn’t win, your vote still shows others that your perspective is out there.

Research the Issues

In addition to voting, it’s important to inform your voting decisions. Elected officials at all levels on the ballot make key decisions that affect our daily lives and the future of birds and the habitats they need. Remember to save time before elections to learn about the candidates and measures on the ballot. Attending public meetings is a great way to get information directly from the source and contribute your feedback.
